Some favourite books for kids and adults alike, please feel free to post your favourites too. This is a work in progress…

Toddlertaming

New Toddler Taming – Dr Christopher Green

This book is an absolute favourite in the M household. One of the reasons is that Dr Green is so non-judgmental and he has a relaxed style of giving advice. We refer to this book constantly now that we have a toddler in the house. He covers issues such as potty training (one of our 007 projects), discipline, eating, sleep solutions and everything you can possibly come across in your little toddler, in a light-hearted humorous way. Highly recommended.

Real Fast Food and Real Fast Puddings – Nigel Slater

Honestly, the only thing I want to do after the kids have been put to bed, is to collapse on the sofa with a glass of Chardonnay or anything alcoholic, (there were times when the surgical spirits we used for the little girl, looked pretty attractive) however you have to line your stomach for those late night wakings.

This is where Nigel Slater comes in pretty useful. These two gems are invaluable since the recipes ALWAYS work and they really only take a short while to prepare. Exotic ingredients are kept to the minimum and a lot of the recipes are easy to adapt to whatever you have at hand.

2. Books for the Kids

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson.

If you’re a Gruffalo fan, you’re sure to enjoy this book. Alex Schaeffler and Julia Donaldson have teamed up again to produce this wonderful tale about a snail that sets out to see the world on the tail of a humpback whale. Our son loves it and it is great reading it aloud at bedtime.
